Michael obtained a Bachelor of Science in Natural Science Mathematics from University of Wyoming in 1994. He then began his wound care journey as a medical assistant. He worked with patients presenting non-healing wounds and orthopedic conditions in a physical therapy setting in the Yarupa Valley Hospital of Steamboat Springs, Colorado, then St. Josephs Hospital in Omaha, Nebraska.

After these experiences he enrolled into the University of the Pacific in Stockton, California, where he earned his Master’s of Physical Therapy before moving to Casper to work in the wound care department of Wyoming Medical Center in 2000.

Three years later Michael and his wife Kelley opened Wyoming Wound Care. In 2005 Michael obtained his Certified Wound Specialist (CWS) certification from the American Board of Wound Management, which required 3 years of active patient care and a passing score on the national board exam.
